So, I've decided I'm going to stop taking anti-depressants permanently. A few years back, I was desperate enough to start taking them, and then I discovered that the effect was akin to stepping a few feet back from a cliff (that you still wanted to throw yourself down). They didn't even really help anything going on inside my head, so I decided enough was enough. I knew that when I had previously disrupted my intake I had started to get dizzy, I figured this would be most of what I had to deal with.

It turns out that SSRI's (the particular kind of anti-depressant I had been taking) can really get into your body, and you can develop a physical dependency on them.

I want to reiterate; anti-depressants cause chemical addiction. Let that simmer for a minute. You will have to continue taking these pills for the rest of your life if you are as desperate as I was to take them in the first place. You want to know something else? If you decide you don't want to take these pills anymore, you go through withdrawal.

I am talking about full-on withdrawal. Go to Wikipedia and look up 'SSRI discontinuation syndrome', as it is so euphemistically called. Look at the symptoms. I am starting to go through that right now. Boy, I sure hope I can get me some of that sexual disorder!

But you want to know what's funny? In order to cope with the withdrawal, I'm smoking (more) Cannabis. Ironically, it's the only way I can even function, and I have a feeling it's the only way I'm going to come out of this in one piece. Think about it; You can go and get a prescription for something that can cause physical addiction and withdrawal, has numerous bad side effects, and doesn't really help you. But something that can't cause physical addiction, doesn't have any adverse side effects and is a medicine in the purest since of the word, can get you arrested.

Anyway, TL;DR Weed is better. Don't take anti-depressants, no matter how desperate you are. you'll pay for it.
